The purpose of our post – and the poll – was to demonstrate how the differences in characteristics and behaviours between people can influence their potential to achieve leadership roles.

But it was also to demonstrate that these characteristics and behaviours can also have serious consequences for their behaviours – and their outcomes – once they are in post.

Our scenario was set in 1938-9 in the run up to WWII. Candidate A – having already annexed Austria and built a powerful domestic following that played on the economic deprivations that had earlier beset Germany – was Adolf Hitler.

Candidate B – your choice – was Winston Churchill.
